Your pet's snout can give you many more clues than you can imagine about their health
The nose is an organ of vital importance for cats as they are oriented through smell and if for some reason this sense is diminished they can become disoriented and helpless. Before eating a food, these animals sniff until they make sure that what is in front of them is not toxic or poisonous to them. A minion who cannot smell will stop eating; up to that point it is important that the nose of these pets stays in the best possible condition.
Temperature changes, which are more or less wet, mucus or wounds of unknown origin, may be indicative that your kitten needs a visit to the veterinarian.
Dry or wet nose
A widespread mistake among domestic feline owners is to think that a hot, dry snout means the animal has a fever. However, changes in outside temperature, rubbing with something, or even the gesture of cleaning itself can cause your cat's nose to dry, get wet, cool down, or heat up without a clear sign of anything. If we notice that these changes start to be frequent, for no apparent reason and are also accompanied by other symptoms such as apathy, weight loss, excessive thirst or some intestinal disorder then we must go to a professional.
Runny nose
A healthy cat doesn't have to have nasal secretions. Extreme heat or cold can cause them, and if it is something continuous the animal can get sick. If there is secretion it should be clear and transparent. If mucus is yellowish, thick, or dark, a veterinarian should be seen to examine the causes of the veterinarian.
Nose with wounds
Wounds that may appear on your cat's snout will be external in most cases. When our pet has a small scratch or scratch caused by a fight with another or even from getting in where it shouldn't, the wound can be cured with oxygenated water so it doesn't get infected. If your pet's truffle appears cracked or with large wounds that we don't know where they came from, the visit to the vet will be inescapable.
Color-changing nose
The color of the cat truffle varies depending on the breed, and can be from pink to black. Sometimes it can happen that it changes tone - especially if its usual color is light. That the snout of one of these animals is stoked more intensely than normal is a sign of good health, and the change is simply due to the reflection of the variation in their blood pressure.
